It is interesting to hear discussions about the "realness" of this or that particular "reality" television show.
But one point that is rarely discussed is- "real" or "fake" in comparison to what?
Stated differently, what exactly is REAL? and what isn't?
Like, what is the 100% genuine artifact that any so-called "reality" is compared to?
Take for instance a recent "reality" show, that in reality was only a "show" about a "reality show".
It can most certainly be argued that television should be eliminated and not be watched, but that misses the point.
The fact that there exists a genre and term - "reality television" - simply begs some questions:
What is reality?
Who defines reality?
And, how do you know "real" when you see it?
Think about it.
